The FIFA World Cup 2022 is underway and teams from all over the world are fighting for a shot at the final.
In the 2018 finals, France faced Croatia, an underdog team cheered on by the world in hopes that France would not take home a second World Cup trophy.
France ultimately won the tournament but the world is ready for another underdog to finish in the top two. Based on the results of the first game of 2022 – in which Ecuador stole victory from 2022 Cup hosts Qatar with a 2-0 win – the rising stars could just be from Latin America.
At least one Latin American team plays from November 22nd to December 2nd, when the top 16 teams advance to the Quarterfinals. So far, Argentina have lost to Saudi Arabia in one of the most shocking results of the tournament so far – Saudi Arabia even declared Wednesday a national day to celebrate their victory. Mexico tied with Poland and Costa Rica lost to Spain, one of the World Cup heavyweights.
Many of Fox Sports’ most respected football experts think a Latin American team could take home the trophy, while many are making their predictions on the trophy. The European country took home the trophy (Brazil’s win over Germany in 2002). Despite their recent defeat, Argentina, who have not won a World Cup since 1966, still appear to be formidable contenders, with five of Fox’ football analysts predicting they will be the ones to claim victory. Other experts are betting on Brazil, the country with the most World Cup victories in history.
Due to the presence of Latin America at this year’s tournament, we wanted to create a Latin guide for the 2022 World Cup to make sure you don’t miss any important matches.
There are many places where you can stream the tournament including fuboTV (free trial or subscription), Fox Sports and Telemundo.
