World Cup Predictions, Odds, Best Bets Today: Betting Tips, Expert Picks for Monday 21st November

With the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening in the rear-view mirror, the real heart of the tournament begins as fans are treated to three games today, plus four games a day for the remainder of the group stage.

The first full day is the other leg of Group A, where the Netherlands take on Senegal. Then Group B begins with England versus Iran and the United States versus Wales.

Both games are vital. For Group A, the two favorites are hoping for early promotion to qualification as they face tough games later.

Meanwhile, in Group B, USA vs Wales is arguably the most important and decisive game of the group. With these two sides likely to be battling for second place behind England in qualifying, points won and lost in that opening game could decide which side qualifies and which side falls short.

England vs. Iran prediction, best bet

  • kick-off time: 8 p.m. ET
  • Best bid: England wins & under 3.5 goals
  • Opportunities: -130 (BetMGM)
  • Prognosis (win/draw): to win England

Batting overs at the World Cup is harder than usual as teams like to play it safe with so much at stake. There is likely to be very little for England to enjoy in this game, but even less for Iran. It is likely that England will emerge as the clear winner here, even if the margin seems small. They just have too much talent to make this game sweat, especially when Azmoun isn’t playing and Iran are further weakened in attack. Once Gareth Southgate has his lead he is unlikely to push the limits too much, happy to sit on that advantage and flick the ball around to keep his side healthy, fit and danger free. You can be brave and lead England to victory at +165 and under 2.5 goals, but at the World Cup it’s a very wise idea to leave room for the unexpected. — Kyle Bonn

Netherlands vs. Senegal prediction, best bet

  • kick-off time: 11 a.m. ET
  • Best bid: Netherlands win to zero
  • Opportunities: +138 (BetMGM)
  • Prognosis (win/draw): win Netherlands

While the Dutch attackers are the standout stars of the squad with Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo and Steven Bergwijn, the Dutch defense is also excellent. Without Sadio Mane there will be no way for Senegal to get through against the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Ake and Matthijs de Ligt whoever Aliou Cisse wants to field. The Dutch will control this game from start to finish and it will be difficult to see Senegal find a way. — Kyle Bonn

Prediction USA vs Wales, best bets

  • kick-off time: 2 p.m. ET
  • Best bid: Highest scoring half — 1H
  • Opportunities: +235 (BetMGM)
  • Best bid: Timing of the first goal – Min. 1-20
  • Opportunities: +220/+235 (BetMGM)
  • Prognosis (win/draw): To draw

When you think about the flow of this game, it makes too much sense that these two sides would end up in a back-and-forth fast-paced thriller. With the pace and verticality of Wales and the high-pressure, somewhat direct nature of the United States, this game could be fun. In World Cup games where there is so much at stake, it is often reluctant to start, while in the second half teams sometimes open up and try to win the game. Not here. In this match where speed is paramount, I’m looking for a reverse script. Both teams will want to use their fresh legs to attack the other side and that should make for an entertaining start. Once a team finds their lead, they close it completely and protect the advantage. Given the above, if this game starts as quickly and energetically as I expect, there should be an early goal for one of the teams. Still not sure how things will turn out? Here’s the stat that sealed things for me: USA have either scored or been scored in the first 10 minutes of each of their World Cup openers since 1998 – that’s five straight World Cup openers! — Kyle Bonn

*NOTE: As BetMGM only offers 10 minute shot on goal intervals and not 20 minute intervals we have split a 1 unit bet across 2 selections. ½ unit is bet on minutes 1-10 (+440), while ½ unit is bet on minutes 11-20 (+470). The payout is determined based on the individual odds of that selection if any of them are successful.

Yesterday’s tips and results

It was a positive first day of the World Cup as Enner Valencia propelled Ecuador to victory.

Valencia had chalked up an early goal from VAR in what was a difficult start to the game but he would eventually hit the back of the net twice to leave no doubt.

The shorthanded were nervous all along as Ecuador continued to beat Qatar in the second half, but ultimately persevered. Almoez Ali had a great moment to put Qatar on the scoresheet but we’re happy to take two wins from three picks.

Futures picks for the 2022 World Cup

With the opening game of the World Cup here, below is a reminder of our World Cup futures picks.

Kyle has gone with tournament favorites Brazil to win the competition as the Selecao have the most talented and deep roster in the field. Because of this choice, Neymar is the pick for the Golden Boot winner as the tournament’s top scorer. He has picked Argentina as favorites to win Group C and Uruguay as underdogs for Portugal to win Group H.

There is one top team that should be eliminated early and that is France, who have a weak group but injuries and poor form could hit them early in the knockout stages. Finally, the angry picks are Japan, who qualify from a difficult Group E and must eliminate Spain or Germany. Then he went to Canada to get an upset in Group F and get past Belgium or Croatia.
