Celebrate Small Business Saturday in Manistee County

MANISTEE COUNTY – With the holidays just around the corner, the Manistee-area Chamber of Commerce is urging residents to think local when choosing where to spend their money.

Small Business Saturday is taking place nationwide this weekend, and here in Manistee, sales like this can help keep local businesses afloat.

According to the chamber, local small businesses provide “over 60% of all new jobs” and are among the first people to be called upon to “support local initiatives, non-profit organizations and youth activities”.

“We support our neighbors, our friends and our community when you shop locally,” Jalie Mowry Lipa, owner of Revive and Refresh Aesthetics, said in a Chamber of Commerce newsletter.

To keep money in the county, the Chamber offers Manistee County Cash, a gift certificate program exclusively for local businesses.

That’s how it works

The program allows people to purchase a community gift certificate, which can then be used at any of the participating businesses. Businesses can scan the QR (Quick Response) code on the certificate or use the six-digit code to apply to a purchase. The full amount of the certificate must be used when making a purchase, according to the chamber’s website.

Certificates are sold on the Chamber’s website in $5, $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, and $50 options.

Certificates are sent via email and you can print them out when redeeming them or get them on your mobile device.
