Kill Your Speed In Buckshaw

The following press release has been provided to the BVCA by Councillor Matthew Lynch, Astley and Buckshaw Ward:

Residents of Buckshaw Village have complained about the speed of traffic on local roads. Cllr Matthew Lynch has raised this issue with Lancashire County Council in order to combat speeding. The problem is particularly acute as some roads are un-adopted while others, such as Buckshaw Avenue, have a 40 mph speed limits which are deemed to be excessive given the proximity of housing, the school and community services.

Cllr Lynch has asked the County Council to Re assess and approve locations for Euxton Parish Council to use their Speed indicating device on both Buckshaw and central avenues, whilst urging them to complete adoption of all roads so that speed limits can be enforced by the police, as well as asking them to review the 40mph speed limits which are also causing concern for residents.

He said: "safety is paramount and I continue to receive complaints from residents about speeding traffic so this will remain a top priority until action is taken, the only speed Buckshaw needs is firmly from county hall."

Buckshaw Village Community Association is appealing for members of the local community to come out and support the association by volunteering to help. The association is completely reliant on volunteers as Chair, Craig Lee explains "Volunteers are the lifeblood of the association, people from all walks of life donate as much time as they can spare to help with a variety of roles including delivering the free newsletter; Buckshaw Village Voice, help moderate the internet forum or help deliver our fantastic community events." So far around 30 people have registered their interest, Conrad Lea, Events Officer added "It is important for people to know when they register their interest they are not committing to anything, just saying I'd be interested in helping, contact me when you need help, if you have the time available you can, if not you just pass and wait for the next opportunity."
